April 9, 2020: St. Mary's Foundation COVID-19 Update

In order to keep hospital patients safe from potential exposure to COVID-19, the City of San Francisco issued a health order on March 14, 2020 excluding visitors from entering hospitals to visit their loved ones. Visitors could be carriers of COVID-19, even without symptoms, and expose our vulnerable patients to this dangerous virus. We are now raising funds to purchase iPads for the hospital to provide patients with the ability to video chat with their loved ones since they are not able to visit in person. Currently, patients are only able to speak with family and friends by phone, or via video chats if they have smart phones enabled to do so.

Providing iPads for Our Patients to Communicate with their Families

Last week we sent out the below list of critical supplies our medical staff needs to provide safe patient care during this crisis, with levels to illustrate how your contribution will be used to offset the costs. Thank you to everyone who made contributions to our Disaster Relief Fund, we deeply appreciate your generosity during such a difficult time.

Our goal is to raise enough to purchase 15 iPads at a cost of $350 per iPad and $100 for a protective case for each iPad, tax included, through our Disaster Relief Fund. Please consider making a contribution in any amount to help us reach our goal and support our list of critical supplies. 100% of your contribution is tax-deductible.

$25 will cover the cost of 3 boxes of Nitrile gloves

$50 will cover the cost of 125 surgical masks

$100 will cover the cost of 100 face shields

$250 will cover the cost of 150 goggles

$450 will cover the cost of 1 iPad and 1 protective case

$500 will cover the cost of 100 containers of sanitizing wipes
